Christmas Joy Offering

On Sunday December 23,2018 PCO will be participating in a Special Offering for the Presbyterian Church USA. The Christmas Joy Offering helps support two different mission efforts. Supporting the Board of Pensions provides current and retired Presbyterian church workers in need with financial assistance to support them through life's challenging circumstances. Thanksgiving Community Worship, Nov 19

The Presbyterian Church of Okemos will participate in a Community Thanksgiving Service on Monday November 19, 7 pm at the University United Methodist Church, 1120 S. Harrison Rd, East Lansing. The keynote speaker will be Imam Sohail Chaudry of the Islamic Center of East Lansing. An offering will be received for the Firecracker Foundation. A combined choir rehearsal starts at 6 pm. Agape Worship Service, Nov. 18

On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, it is the tradition of this congregation to mark the holiday with an Agape Feast. Agape is the Greek word for "love" especially used to refer to Christ's love toward his disciples. This is the selfgiving love that Jesus commanded his followers to practice: “Love one another as I have loved you." Kalamazoo College Singers
The College Singers of Kalamazoo College will perform on Friday, November 9, 8:00 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Okemos in a concert entitled “I Feel the Earth, Move.” The ensemble of 32 singers is conducted by Dr. Chris Ludwa.  This program features music of pop artists such as Carole King and James Taylor paired with global songs, folk music, spirituals, and other styles in an entertaining program centered on our relationship with the earth.  The concert is free but donations will be collected to support the choir.  All are welcome.

Prayer Vigil in Response to Pittsburgh, Nov. 1

The Interfaith Clergy Association of Lansing is sponsoring a prayer vigil in response to the shooting in Pittsburgh. Thursday, November 1, 7:30-8:30 p.m. To be held at Congregation Shaarey Zedek, 1924 Coolidge Rd, East Lansing, MI. It will be a Jewish service with the traditional Jewish prayers of mourning. Our clergy, Rev. Carlson and Rev. Townley, are contributing to the service.   Clergy and members from many traditions will be present.  Please consider coming and offering support for our community and our Jewish friends and neighbors.

Crop Walk, October 14

The Annual CROP Walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 14 from 2:00-5:00 p.m., starting and ending at Grace United Methodist Church at 1900 Boston Boulevard in Lansing.   The route is five kilometers this year.  Members are encouraged to walk, rock, or support those who do through donations and prayer. In addition to raising funds to alleviate hunger, the walk itself draws attention to the problems of hunger and income inequality. PCO was well represented at the Peace Quest International Day of Peace Rally on 9-21-18. Judi H. spoke about the refugee program in Lansing and Paula F. presented information on GIL, one of PCO's cherished missions. There are more events through September 30 including the movies "Out of Order" on  9-25-18 and "Trails of Hope and Terror" on 9-27-18 with both shown at Studio C in Okemos and both at 7 pm.
