Dr. Chester’s Dissertation contextualizes the life and choral works of the 18-century female composer, Marianna von Martines. In addition to discussing the ways that gender has impacted the canon of classical Western repertoire, her dissertation provides a resource for conductors on practical application of her works in a variety of possible settings for modern day choirs.
