Welcome Rebekah Anderson!

At a special called meeting of the congregation on Sunday, June 12, 2022, the Presbyterian Church of Okemos voted to call Rebekah Anderson as PCO's associate pastor. Rebekah's first 'official' Sunday in this role is scheduled on August 7, 2022. Rebekah grew up in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, a suburb outside of Harrisburg, PA, where she was involved in the Pine Street Presbyterian Church. She says that being part of Pine Street’s youth group gave her meaningful friendships and opened the door for her to see herself in ways she might not have otherwise. 2022 Cass Mission Trip a Great Experience

The annual PCO mission trip to Cass Community Social Services was prefaced by Colossians 3:12 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Ten participated, including Pastor Lisa, eight members, and one friend of a member. The age range is available strictly on a “need to know” basis. Our task this year was sorting paper to be shredded, one of the ways Cass raises revenue. Normally adults with developmental disabilities are employed part-time to supplement their governmental support so they can buy things like toiletries or go out to lunch as a group. However, ...

Cuba Mission Trip

Four PCO Youth and one adult have traveled to Cuba this month as part of a mission trip. Alex & Sophia Juarez, Lucas Meland and Jacob Stokes, along with adult Roy Meland joined a team from First Presbyterian Church in Holt and are on the island nation through June 30. While there, they are leading a Vacation Bible School and learning how Cubans practice their faith. At some point following their return, the youth plan to give a presentation of their experience in Cuba. Please keep them in your prayers.

Pajama Collection for Love Clothing Center

More than 50 pairs of children's summer pajamas were donated by PCO members for the Love Clothing Center at Judson Baptist Church in Lansing. PCO was involved with the clothing center years ago. This clothing bank is sponsored by Lansing Christian Services and has helped more than 40,000 children through the years. Members of the LCS board of directors are from several local churches and so a variety of Christians, all believing in loving our neighbors and helping those in need.
